MORALITY AS A COMMODITY

CRITICAL DESIGN

︎

Brief

Produce a piece of critical design; a branch of design epitomised by the work of Anthony Dunne in 'Hertzian Tales' (1999) and his partner Fiona Raby. Design which challenges dogmatic elements of the zeitgeist and societal norms.

Response

A cynical exploration into the reciprocal nature of charity and the resulting virtue signalling displayed by some of those who donate to good causes. By editing current charity adverts I hope to expose the degree of selfish motive behind why people perform moral acts; whether that is being able to show off to friends or make oneself feel better about past wrongdoings.
