For the Penguin 2020 student design award, fiction category, redesign the book cover of John Le Carrés spy thriller ‘The Night Manager’ in a new and imaginative way.

My approach involved an ode to the protagonist’s Egyptian love interest and main motivation of the plot, in the form of an eye in the ocean. I felt this helped to create an air of mystery and espionage. Above the eye, floating on sea, Roper’s yacht can be seen where the climax of the story takes place. I also ensured I used colours relevant to the countries and locations involved throughout the story.
